Even if she likes you, you always have to abide by "Bro's before ho's". The fact that you want to be with her adds justification to your friend bitching you out. Learn from it and next time make a move on the girl faster.

Feb 28, 5. Feb 28, 6. I think its only been two months or so that they have been together, and he is already neglectful of her. These feelings only became really apparent after he started getting all wierd, we don't flirt, we don't leave him out, but he acts like he feels like a third wheel if we all hang out. Feb 28, 7. Feb 28, 8. It's pretty obvious that you know what you want to do.
The general rule my friends and I go by is that it's fine to go after a girl who has dated a friend, as long as you get his permission first.

If he's not ok with it, then you shouldn't be either. In this case, not only is your friend not ok with this, but he's still freaking dating her!! You have feelings for her so don't like that she's dating someone who you think is a bad boyfriend, that's normal, but you really need to think this through. Based on the original post, your buddy is already on edge with you, and to be honest, I don't blame him.
While you two haven't cheated on him, he knows there is some tension there, and the fact that you're writing this post means he's correct in his analysis of the situation. You trying to make a move on his girl is really not cool; I don't see how this is acceptable in any social circle. There will probably be many more consequences besides your guy friend hating you.
In your ideal world, the two would break up mutually and your friend would say it's cool if you go for her. This kind of situation is not that uncommon, I'd say I know 6 or 7 instances within people I know this has happened.

It was poor taste, and it was deserved. Effington , Feb 28, Mar 1, 9. She may think she wants you, or maybe likes the attention she gets from you, but its obviously not enough to let go of the other dude. You have come in second place. I guess since this relationship is only a few months old, I guess the feelings aren't really strong. It just makes no sense that the girl apparently feels the same way, yet she hasn't ended the current relationship yet.

Maybe she is waiting for him to dump her so she looks like the 'victim'? Steev84 , Mar 2, Dec 13, Messages: Don't pursue the girl too hard, just keep doing what you are doing. SmoothiusMaximus , Mar 2, Mar 29, Messages: You're an ass for even considering it, and she's a callous whore for putting him through this. At least if you two go through with it, have the dignity to man up and break off your friendship.
FunkyMaster , Mar 2, Mar 3, You should put the ball in her court. Tell her what you want to happen and then step back from the situation.

It means that it's a bad idea, but that's not the same as "never do it. It's possible that you've got an uncommon romance on your hands. Maybe this is your future wife, or muse, or whatever it is that you're looking for.
If this is the case, you'd be missing out on years of potential passion if you passed up on this girl for the sake of sparing your friends' feelings.

Like I said, this is a tough one. You've got a hell of a decision to make. Accordingly, you should treat this like any other important decision, which is to say that you should get as much information as possible. First, be real with yourself. Is this girl really special to you? Is there actually an uncommon reaction between you — some sort of deep compatibility that's worth alienating your friend for? Or is she just an attractive person who finds you attractive, too?
Those two things are so, so easily confused. Approach these questions with the maximum possible skepticism about yourself. If you feel fluttery every time you talk to a pretty girl, keep that in mind. If you're currently lonely and you really need to get laid, consider that maybe you're just desperate.

And dwell on the fact that some of your excitement might just come from the taboo nature of this potential relationship, because, like everyone else, you want what's off-limits. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that your crush on this girl is just like any other crush. It's a fun illusion, which, if pursued, might reveal a great relationship, or might not. Odds are, that's what this is, in which case you should probably just sigh, move on, and hit up your online dating site of choice, where you can find lots of other crush-worthy women.
I found out about this the hard way, in a similar situation. Tom, one of my childhood friends, was always kind of bummed out, until he met Josie, a fast-talking, high-energy woman who brought him out of his shell. They had a sparkling relationship — they were one of those couples that just radiated warm, gooey, nauseating passion — and I was super envious of it. Also, obviously, Josie was an outrageously foxy person: There was only one weird thing about her, which is that I would occasionally catch her looking at me a little funny. I suspected that she had a low-key crush on me.
About a year after she dumped Tom abruptly, leaving him a sniveling wreck, I discovered that I was correct. We ran into each other at a party. Flirting with each other was easy, taking each other's clothes off was easy, and it felt like fate — like absolute magic — and it kept feeling like absolute magic for about a month, at which point I discovered that she was kind of boring, or at least that we bored each other.
In the end, I got about five dates out of it, in exchange for an irreparably ruined friendship. Tom found out, and he never forgave me. Now, if you're sure that this is not you, that this is Real Love you're looking at, then what you have to do is tell your friend what's up.
Tell your friend about your intentions, and ask him if there's any way you can make the process easier for him. This conversation will not go well. Because, again, you're declaring to an old friend that you're prepared to disregard his feelings.
