Add Lil's crazy mother who wishes her future daughter-in-law will magically disappear despite her brother's undying love for his future bride, and you have conjured up just an ordinary day in life of Lil Marchette. And just when she thinks things can't possibly get any worse, she finds herself as a contestant on Manhattan's Most Wanted dating show with a bunch of desperate woman who hope to hook up with the local, hot weatherman. Where's a sexy, unattached vampire when you need one?
Aug 18, CupcakeBlonde rated it really liked it Shelves: Out of the three books in this series this is my favorite, even with the lack of Ty front and center ash took his place in the hottie category for a while. I am warming even more to the charcater of Lil, loving her antics and scheming, like how she handled being picked for the dating show. The only grip I had was she at times seemed almost too blase about the fact she knew Ty was in trouble.
I know she could not do much and was helping Ash as much as she could, and she really was trying to fig Out of the three books in this series this is my favorite, even with the lack of Ty front and center ash took his place in the hottie category for a while. There are the little signs that she was thinking about him even when she wasn't though, like being off-kilter enough to adopt a stray cat I loved that turn in the storyline but could not figure out if she could actually talk to the cat or if it was her making up his dialouge I guess I just wanted her a bit more frantic.
Overall, my favorite of this series and I love Lil's big mushy heart and need to make everyone happy. So now that Ty is out of the picture so to speak will Lil hook up with Remy? Nov 29, Elizabeth rated it really liked it. May 03, Natalie rated it liked it. This is book 3 in the Dead End Dating series. FYI, book 6 which has been on hold since is now scheduled to be released as an e-book in the fall of This was a fun, lighthearted vampire lifestyle book.
I wouldn't really call it a romance since it doesn't fit the usual romance formula. I haven't read the first 2 books in this series - I saw this at a library sale and decided to go for it. It was a totally fun s This is book 3 in the Dead End Dating series.
It was a totally fun summertime read, the whole series could be knocked out during a beach trip! While I'd love to find out if Lil gets her made-vamp Ty in the very end of the series I don't think that I'm going to bother reading the others in the series; my TBR pile is just too big. Jul 01, Sbuchler rated it really liked it Recommended to Sbuchler by: There is a kidnapping mystery going on, but the point-of-view character, Lil, is not an investigator - she's very interested in it but does not have the skills to follow up; there aren't really clues for the reader to pick up and try to solve.
We find out the same way Lil does. Lil is certainly a vampire, but not a vampire like any I've read before - she's talkative and lighthearted and having the correct designer shoes is the most important thing of her day. She pays her bills by running a dating service. Really, the book is a screw-ball comedy more then anything else, and as such I was totally enthralled! Jul 24, Natasha Briggs rated it it was ok. Paranormal is not really my thing, but I read the book anyway.
To my surprise it was funny quirky and easy to read. Vampires, werewolves and humans all living together like it's a normal thing. Lil Marchette a very sexy vampire who owns a dating service in Manhattan has her hands full trying to match vampires, humans and Others with the right partners. While her love life is a little shaky as well. The only man she really wants is Ty.
He is a self made vampire, but with true vampire etiquette va Paranormal is not really my thing, but I read the book anyway. He is a self made vampire, but with true vampire etiquette vampires cannot cross breed unless he a true vampire. Lil has her hands full trying to pay all her bills, making her dating service work and thinking about Ty that seems to be in trouble and needs her help. It was an interesting book. I think you really need to like the paranormal to enjoy this quirky book.
Feb 27, Renee Rearden rated it liked it. They are so much fun. I'm not a label hungry fashionista, but I can appreciate the humor behind Lil Marchette's character being so inclined. She's a year-old vampire and holding that's part niave, part hopeless romantic, and part entrepreneur Lil not hearing from Ty, her hunky bounty hunter, is a serious bummer, but she doesn't have time to sit by the phone waiting on him.
She has a business to build. When she gets a telepathic message from Ty and realizes he's been kidnapped, Lil finds herself in plenty of trouble when she tries to find Ty. Though I was a little disappointed with the ending of Your Coffin or Mine? May 27, Jini rated it really liked it. Okay, I finally figured out what it is about these books that was bothering me. Whatever it says on the back cover, that's NOT what the book is about. This one says that Lil spends the book searching for Ty referred to Tag at one point; more sloppy editing and trying to drum up business by going on a local Bachelor-type tv show.
What she actually does is spend most of the book on her brother's wedding and avoiding the hunt. She doesn't actually go looking for Ty, she waits f Okay, I finally figured out what it is about these books that was bothering me.

She doesn't actually go looking for Ty, she waits for updates from the guy who's looking for him. Still, these books are a fun read, and the fourth one is out, so I'm probably going to search that one out, too. Aug 30, Tanya rated it liked it Shelves: It's been a long time since I read an adult paranormal and it will probably be awhile until I read another.
I used to eat these right up, but maybe I have a different standard now? For some reason YA books seem to be much more well written and they entertain me more. Back to the book-it's part 3 of a series that I started awhile back. If you like chick lit and paranormals it is a decent read. Lil is not a terrible protagonist, just a little too into designer clothes I could care less. I guess It's been a long time since I read an adult paranormal and it will probably be awhile until I read another.
I guess it's just not really my thing anymore. Dec 06, Erin rated it really liked it Shelves: Again, just hilarious, fun reading! This one was exciting, too, because her favorite bounty hunter is in danger, and she has to save him. She could only do so much, though. Sometimes she had to wait, and while she was waiting, she talked about her clothes. By the way, I'm not much on fashion, but I would wade through all of the shoe-talk again for this book!
Sep 28, Diana rated it liked it Shelves: When Lil receives a psychic call for help from Ty, who has been incommunicado for months, she has to find him. At the same time, she is a contestant on a Manhattan dating show. I kind of raced through it, skimming for the important information.

A quick read, that was enjoyable for the most part. The author puts her own spin on vamp mythology, with two classses of vamps, born vamps and made vamps, who do not intermarry.
Dead End Dating Series
Born vamps can have children with their eternal mate, and when choosing a mate they don't consider love or feelings. A female looks for a mate with a high fertility rating, and a male looks for a mate with a high OQ - orgasm quotient - as the more orgasms she can have in a single session of love making, the more eggs she A quick read, that was enjoyable for the most part. A female looks for a mate with a high fertility rating, and a male looks for a mate with a high OQ - orgasm quotient - as the more orgasms she can have in a single session of love making, the more eggs she can produce and the higher her chances of conceiving.
Made vamps are unable to procreate. Lil Marchette is a born vamp, who is also a romantic. She has started a matchmaking service, catering to both vamps and humans. She would like to find an eternity mate for herself, but she also wants someone she can actually love. Her mother is constantly trying to set her up and get her to settle down. One of Lil's first big clients is Francis, a geeky born vamp who blushes whenever a woman talks to him.
If she can make him over and find him a mate, then her business should surely take off. In the meantime, she meets Ty Bonner, a bounty hunter who is after a serial kidnapper. Ty comes to her office to warn her to be on the lookout as the kidnapper may be meeting his victims through dating services. Ty is a made vamp, and Lil is surprised and dismayed at how attracted she is to him, and keeps reminding herself that born and made do not get together and it would never work.

The story and the dialogue were enjoyable, though Lil is a little too on the chick lit side, being overly obsessed with fashion and clothing and such. Her assistant is a human who knows nothing about Lil's vamp side, and it was a little hard to believe that she never wondered about her nocturnal boss. Ty was a great character, but was around way too little, though I gather he'll be in future books in the series. He seems attracted to Lil also, and hopefully something will come of that, despite Lil's reservations.
Where the book turned sour for me was during Francis' transformation. Lil has fixed his wardrobe and messed with his hair, but she isn't satisfied with him. So she takes him to her parents' next door neighbor, a werewolf, and talks her into keeping him for the weekend.
Kimberly Raye (Author of Dead End Dating)
I never really understood the point of that exercise, how spending the weekend with werewolves was going to make Francis more confident, and when Lil picks him up Sunday night he seems to be a quivering mess who no longer blushes - because they overly spray tanned him - and who can't stop blinking. I have the second book in the series so I'll read it, but I'm not really sure yet how eager I'll be to continue after that.
I didn't like this series. Her de I didn't like this series. Her decisions just don't seem to impact much on what happens to her. If she does make a big plan she thinks through the first bit enough to get her into a big mess that she then needs rescuing from by someone else. The only time she really takes a proactive interest in actually doing anything is other people's relationships and while she matches a fair few people up well, others she matches at random and hopes for the best and others she seems to actively sabotage.
Seriously- hundreds of years old and still obsessed by how people look? It's such a high school attitude. It would have been nice if Lil instead of suggesting endless pointless beauty treatments- thigh wraps ect. Even modern day guys have- shock horror- different preferences!! She does the same to some of her male clients as well- getting them to dress differently, wax, have a spray tan ect. Feb 26, Laura rated it really liked it Shelves: I wanted a fun read and this filled the bill. I could have put it on the romance bookshelf and it does involve dating but it's more about finding love and romance especially when you're a romantic then it is about being in love.
It's about bringing back the love and romance to an unromantic world. I really enjoyed it. Now that I know there are more books, I may end up seeking them out. Jul 26, Megan Scott rated it really liked it Shelves: I was a tad bit worried going into this book, what with the heroine seeming like a cross between Lily Munster and a Valley Girl just from the summary on the back.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to find I actually took to Lil Marchette from the very first page. She seemed sassy from the get-go, and so unlike your typical lady vamp. I mean, sure, she can seem shallow, conceited, and materialistic at times what did I say, Valley Girl , but when it comes down to it, she has her priorities stra I was a tad bit worried going into this book, what with the heroine seeming like a cross between Lily Munster and a Valley Girl just from the summary on the back.
I mean, sure, she can seem shallow, conceited, and materialistic at times what did I say, Valley Girl , but when it comes down to it, she has her priorities straight. She cares more about keeping her clients safe and helping them find true love or as close as vampires can get, since the ones not named Lil Marchette apparently don't believe in love than about having the latest designer outfits.
Now, I've got to give Kimberly Raye some mad props do people even still say that, I wonder? She seems to have really thought out the rules of vampirism as it applies to her characters, and even manages to turn a couple of them on their heads. Lil tries to intimidate a persistent admirer, only to wind up speaking with a lisp because of her fangs.
Not only was that unexpected, but it comes off really funny, as is most of the book. As for the romance, Ty the bounty hunter didn't show up a whole lot. I was a bit disappointed at first that the story focused more on Lil trying to get her matchmaking service off the ground and help Ty track down a serial killer, but after giving it some consideration, I realized that that's actually a good thing.
First of all, it gives a more realistic timeline, rather than jumping around weeks or even months at a time as some romances tend to do. Second of all, it allows the couple's relationship to develop in 'real time', rather than trying to force a connection between them.
And thirdly, it shows that Lil actually has other things on her mind than how hot the hero is I'm lookin' at you two, Stephenie Meyer and E. Oh, don't get me wrong, she does think he's hot; otherwise, there wouldn't be a romance, obviously. She isn't just consumed with only him. As for the ending, I won't spoil it, but I will say that I failed to guess the identity of the serial killer. Though, in retrospect, I really should've. The clues were there, I just didn't pick up on them, apparently.
So to sum up: I am honestly looking forward to getting my hands on the rest of the series. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. I've always been an incurable romantic. While I enjoy reading all types of fiction, my favorites, the books that touch my soul, are romance novels. From sexy to thrilling, sweet to humorous, I like them all.
