Our daughter has been perfect while growing, up, sure she had some issue's with bullying at school, but she found a college course, left school early and has done really well.

She has a goal to aim for, she wants to go to Uni to study psychology and work with young offenders.

I dated an older guy when I was only 16 - STORYTIME

But, a few months ago while still 15, a 22 year old friend of a friend showed an unhealthy interest in her. She was interested in him too, however, we managed to stop that as she was under the age of consent. It was her first weekend out staying with a girl we hardly knew, she managed to get drunk and sleep with this guy over the weekend.

Is a 16 year old dating a 22 year old wrong?

They heavy petted but luckily she came home still a virgin. I say that as neither of them had contraception on them and they were sleeping on the friends sofa.

This man had asked her how far did she want to go, so if she had said all the way, he'd have slept with her with no contraception, took her virginity on a sofa where she could have bled. It then came out he already has a 3 year old son from a previous relationship. He smokes pot because he has stress and anger issues, has a troubled family past and isn't working. Our daughter is very mature in her manner yet not worldly wise, we hoped she'd have time to develop that, to learn steadily not in one massive jump. We met the lad yesterday and gave the pair of them a lecture and a half.

She is going on the contraceptive injection, and he is going for STI checks too. I've told him if he takes her virginity he'd better make it special as although she will be a notch on his bedpost only, she will remember it the rest of her life! Jess has so much in front of her, her college work etc and we feel this man has no hope Will he be controlling? That is my opinion, and I wish I had had the chance when I was There are always exceptions, but I think they are quite rare. I was assuming that you are a 22yr old female. Maybe I read the question wrongly. Well its legal so under the eyes of the law theirs nothing wrong with it.

However that said im a 22 year old guy and i wouldnt date a 16 year old girl, hell i wouldnt date a 18 year old girl, but then thats because my little sister is 18 so anyone who i near here age or younger i simply cant think of that way they still look like kids too me.

But thats just me i dont think theirs anything wrong with it for anyone else though as i think if i didnt have a younger sister girls that age wouldnt seem like kids still to me. Dont get me wrong i understand that someone who is 18 is an adult and i treat them as such i just couldnt date them because thats just not how they look too me. That's an ideal match of ages. Think of ten years time if you decide to stay together. Seems almost the same age.

A mature man and a pretty youthful girl on his arm. This is a difficult question. On the one hand the law where you live says it is legal, but on the other hand you have to ask yourself why a 22 year old man would be interested in a teenage girl. It is just rational thinking to believe there is something not right with that. But my biggest question is do your parents know, and if they do then how do they feel about it? Do you still live in their home?

Here in America that man could possibly be put in jail depending on where he lived. But than some of our laws have a higher standard then others. But that is my personal opinion. Follow 2 Why would it be illegal? They're both over 16 so of course it's ok. Their interests may differ but there's nothing wrong with a 6 year age gap.

Follow 3 Thank youu soo much for replying.

I really appreciate it. Follow 5 Original post by rhianna It's fine, no problem at all as long as they are happy. I was 17 and my bf was 24, didn't make a difference.

Follow 6 Original post by DSoul Hey People! Follow 7 But 22 year olds that will go out with a 16 year old will almost certainly make my prediction come true. Follow 8 It is legal but I would worry about the guy. I'm 22 and I wouldn't go out with a 16 year old as to me 16 seems very young.

Using the half your age plus 7 rule, the youngest a 22 year old should go out with is As other people have said big age gaps can work but they usually work better as you get older, there is a huge difference in maturity between a 16 year and a 22 year old. Follow 9 Although it's legally 'okay', I believe that six years is way too young unless both people are over There's just something weird about it that I disagree with: Follow 10 Yeah i know, it is kinda weird, but if it makes both of them happy then? Follow 11 Follow 12 It's not illegal and a 6 year age difference is not crazy but at the age of 22 and 16, it's pretty weird.

He's either meant to be at uni, finished uni or he, at least, should have a job.
